Discuss one project where you felt you were the least successful. Explain why you felt this way. What would you do differently to change this piece? Explain
I felt that in this project I just didn't put the work in and the results showed. I had such a hard time showing texture in the bear and scarf and that kinda caused me to give up. It doesn't look very realistic and the value changes are sudden not gradual. If I could change something I would work a little harder and show better value changes. I think the best example of this are the shoes.
What medium was your favorite to work with? Explain why and how you were able to master the techniques associated with this medium
At first when I was working with this medium I did not think I was going to like it. I was having a hard time getting highlights and showing shadows. But the more I worked I got a lot better a showing these highlights a showing good texture. I practiced a lot on my little scrap sheet of paper. I think that I did a really good job with the windmill and showing the curvature of the base. I also really liked the texture I put into the stream.
Choose 2 mini lessons that you felt were the most beneficial in your learning for that particular project. Include photos of these and explain thoroughly. Do you feel you needed more instruction for success? Explain or did you feel that the instruction given was enough to ensure success? Explain.
The reason that I think I was so successful and improved a lot this semester was because of how good are instructor was. All these mini lessons prepared us so much to make are final products. The ones that helped the most was the mini lesson on the nose and the way to show value in prisma. I think the hardest thing with drawing a face is drawing the nose and the practice we did helped so much. Also the prisma mini lesson I think had to be one of the most important mini lesson. teaching us to do layer after layer until it blends together gets you the best looking outcome for your drawing.
Reflect on what your portfolio (all work you created through semester) may not reveal about the semester. Do you think the work in your portfolio is an accurate reflection of your development in the class?
I think that my portfolio is a great representation of my semester. If you look at the very top of my portfolio I drew a camel that is very unrealistic. It has only one value change, Its eyes don't have a pupil, and it doesn't even have a tongue. But if you go to the bottom of my portfolio you find artwork that I spent about a total of 6 hours on. It has good texture that shows each individual piece of grass. good value that shows how the sun reflects off the stream and windmill. I think this shows a lot about my semester.
